MeET Our Chiropractors

Dr. Daniel Hounjet
(Dr. Hounjet)
Dr. Dan is a chiropractor who is passionate about helping people move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives. With a lifelong connection to chiropractic care—starting at just six months old—he understands its transformative impact on overall well-being.
Dr. Dan’s approach to care is always evolving. He continually enhances his expertise by taking advanced courses and staying current with the latest research through health-focused podcasts. This dedication ensures his patients receive the most effective, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.
Before becoming a chiropractor, Dr. Dan worked in finish carpentry, where he developed a firsthand appreciation for the physical demands of labor-intensive work. This experience drives his mission to provide care that not only relieves pain but also builds a foundation for long-term mobility and strength.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Dan lives the active lifestyle he encourages in his patients. He balances resistance training, running, hockey, and golf while managing the daily tasks of life on the acreage he shares with his wife. In 2024, he completed his first half marathon and is training for a full marathon in 2025.
Dr. Dan brings expertise and a commitment to empowerment to every patient he serves, helping them feel their best and thrive in every aspect of their lives.

Dr. Alexandra Briere
(Dr. B)
Dr. B is passionate about empowering her patients to live pain-free and unrestricted lives. With experience working with professional athletes and rockstars, she understands the impact that physical and mental stress have on the body—and how to restore balance for optimal performance and long-term well-being.
Dr. B doesn’t just talk about healthy living; she embodies it. She stays active with resistance training and daily walks with her dog, Koda. Beyond movement, Dr. B is dedicated to making thoughtful, health-conscious choices in her daily life. She routinely researches brands and products that prioritize health and wellness, ensuring they align with her values and those of the people she cares for.
At home, Dr. B connects with nature through gardening and canning. This year, she grew pumpkins and is planning to add chickens to her backyard next year, further deepening her commitment to sustainable living. These practices reflect her belief in a holistic, proactive approach to health and wellness.
What Dr. B loves most about chiropractic care is witnessing the life-changing transformations her patients experience—going from feeling stuck in pain to moving freely and confidently embracing healthier habits. What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice that involves inserting fine thread-like needles at specific points on the skin to help stimulate the energy flow or Qi (pronounced “chee”). This helps to create balance in the body by removing blockages, modulate hormones and neurotransmitters, reduce pain and stimulate the body's natural healing ability. Traditional Chinese Medicine practice includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, Tui Na Massage, acupressure, moxibustion, gua sha and auricular therapy. All modalities are intended to improve and balance the flow of Qi.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture uses very fine needles that are gently inserted in specific acupuncture points. The sensation that is expected from the insertion of needles is not painful. There are pain receptors located at the skin's surface and therefore, the patients may feel a tiny prick as the needle is inserted. Once the needle has passed the skin surface and has reached the underlying muscle, patients rarely feel any pain. The sensation achieved by acupuncture is called "De Qi" and it can include slight distension, tingling, warmth, numbness, heaviness, or aching. Many people find acupuncture very relaxing and often fall asleep.
What conditions can acupuncture help treat?
Acupuncture is commonly used to address a range of conditions, especially chronic pain issues like back pain, neck pain, arthritis, and migraines. It is also applied in treating women’s health issues, including menstrual cramps, irregular cycles, menopausal symptoms, and fertility support. Additionally, acupuncture is used to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and digestive disorders. Some find it beneficial for recovery after surgery and for general wellness by reducing stress and enhancing energy.
How many acupuncture sessions are required?
The number of sessions varies depending on the individual and the condition being treated. For chronic conditions, it is often recommended to have around 10 sessions to achieve lasting results. For acute conditions, a minimum of 5 sessions is typically advised. Some people may notice improvements sooner, while others may benefit from ongoing sessions to maintain wellness and symptom relief.
Treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s needs. While some may receive a specific plan during their initial visit, most patients are advised to schedule a follow-up the following week. This follow-up allows for an evaluation of their response to the initial treatment, enabling a more personalized and effective plan for their ongoing care.
What to Expect During Your Initial Appointment
Your first appointment includes a comprehensive assessment, which involves reviewing your health history, conducting tongue and pulse diagnoses, and performing manual muscle testing if your primary concern is related to injury or pain.
What to Avoid Before Your Acupuncture Appointment
-
Avoid arriving on an empty stomach or a full stomach
-
Refrain from scheduling acupuncture if you are feeling fatigued
-
For more severe health concerns, seek medical assistance prior to your appointment
Is Acupuncture Safe for Pregnant Women?
Yes, acupuncture is safe for pregnant women. There are specific acupoints that are avoided during pregnancy to ensure safety. These areas will be carefully identified and discussed during your visit to prevent any concerns and provide peace of mind.
